Evotech - KTM Super Duke 1290 R Tail Tidy (2020+)

Installation (with Ikea style instructions) was fairly easy. Though some illustrations are vague.
Fit is perfect. No gaps, no problems.
Packaging was shockingly good and minimized use of plastic.
Worth the price. Except for the known interface problem with American sized license tags, there is nothing I would change.

Evotech has some of the highest quality products for the SDR, hands down, and this is no exception. I installed the tail tidy in conjunction with the Yoshimura LED turn signals. If you do this, make sure you purchase M8x1.25 thread coupling nuts. Mine were 50mm long which work great if you use the provided spacers. You do no need any additional hardware if you are reusing the OEM turn signals. Easy factory look and instructions from Evotech are superb.

Only reason im giving 4 star is because the led light provided on the kit its not perfectly fitted. And in my opinion for a 200$ part and all the peaces are provided they should at least match up perfect. Other than that great quality and great look.

Easy install and looks great on the bike.

I'm pretty happy with the tail tidy. Evotech stuff are mostly well made. I do see a little bit of a missfit where the licenseplate light connects to the bracket. you can see a 1/4 inch gap. The plate comes with an extension bracket for different size license plates so I'm not sure why someone would complain about the size.

Good quality easy to install

Overall this is a great tail tidy.

Positives: The main housing is cast aluminum with a black crinkle finish that mostly matches the stock plastic tail. Fit and finish is very nice. The turn signals mount up in a much easier way than stock which is really nice. All needed hardware included was top quality (sans the plate brackets and fasteners mentioned below).

On the minus side, the license plate mount is nowhere near wide enough for a US-based license plate. Simply solved with either the included, cheap plastic brackets or your own metal backing. Understandable because this item is manufactured across the pond.

Another disappointing item was that the included license plate LED light was wired backwards (meaning that the red wire was the ground and the black wire was the positive lead). For the price it would seem that a quick bench test of the item before it gets put in the box would have been nice to see.

Hence the 4 and not 5 star review.

Suggestion to improve would be to include a new, much shorter rear harness included. This would clean up the install ten times over. It's a little disappointing to get to the end of the install and have a big mess of wires to zip tie after installing something this nice overall.

As with most Evotech products, this tail tidy kit came with all the needed parts and was simple to install. Design is well thought out and parts are durable quality. My only gripe is that the actual license plate backing isn't wide enough for a standard American plate and requires the use of two brackets to make it wide enough to mount the plate. Why not just make the backing plate wide enough for direct plate mounting? Aside from that, the kit is great and looks much better than OEM
