I got these bar risers for 2 reasons: 1 - I like to take my Duke 890R on long rides (14+ hours of back roads covering 700+ miles in a day) over a period of several days, and despite it being a comfortable bike for a sporty naked, the standard ergos get tiresome for that kind of riding. 2 - I am getting a little up there in age and combined with a computer job my wrists and forearms develop carpal tunnel symptoms during longer rides. Adding these risers made a big difference in giving me a more neutral wrist angle for my throttle hand, and I recently did a 5 hour ride without any pain. You do lose some front end feel due to less weight over the front, but for anything but focused track riding that's an easy compromise to relieve the painful symptoms I had been dealing with.
