Increase performance and a dramatically reduce weight with the installation of this all Titanium Exhaust System. Due to the silencer's unique dual spiraled baffling you can expect open exhaust performance with a low dB rating. We were lucky enough to get our hands on this system's prototype and did some thorough sound levels compared to some of the shorter exhaust silencers available for these bikes. Tekmo's came in 98 dB, 6 dBs lower than the Wings Silencer making it the best all around silencer for complaint offroading. Tekmo's Titanium Silencer is one of the shortest silencers on the market making it one of the tightest fitting and most aesthetic pleasing system available.

Fitment:
It is a fairly simple exhaust system, so fitting it up was pretty easy. The only points of note are working with the mounting of the exhaust to the engine which has some limited clearance issues but was not insurmountable. Also, the attachment of the muffler to the header was not covered in the instructions so you have to sort of figure it out on your own. It did not help that the main clamp that attaches the header to exhaust was not in the packet of fittings. Instead it was loose in the box and lost in all the packing material. That took me a while to figure out.
This exhaust has removable sound baffles but after starting it up I can tell I am going to have to leave them in. It is plenty loud with the baffles for someone who leaves for work at 5:30AM. The pipe is oiled when you get it so it will need to be cleaned before you fire it up the first time (99% isopropyl alcohol worked great) and you should expect it to smoke a bit until the oil burns off the inside.
One last thing. There are comments about reusing the original hanger for the new pipe and problems with getting that fitted up. I used a longer bolt than the one provided to get the clamp secured and tightened it up. Once it was all in place, I removed the longer bolt and the shorter bolt provided with the kit threaded in easily.
I cannot comment on any performance changes yet due to other factors keeping me off my bike at the moment.
Great system for appearance, sound, and performance. My only complaint is the system requires users to reuse the original pipe hanger that connect the pipe to the frame. The original hanger is made for a pipe with a smaller ID. The problem is getting the hanger over the new pipe which has a larger OD. This resulted in numerous unsuccessful threading attempts of the nut and bolt because the hanger becomes distorted when wrapped around the wider titanium pipe causing the hanger bracket to misalign the nut and bolt. This took the longest to sort out which turned out to be hours and a trip to the hardware store for a tap to re-thread the hanger nut. It seems like a simple enough solution is to provide an appropriately sized hanger bracket with the system?? Aside from that the bike sounds great and has more low end grunt - also installed the fueling dongle. Can't wait to hit the mountains this weekend with it!
inevitable product for those who want to have a crazy sound, beautiful aesthetics and very performing, perfect assembly
In my own opinion, this sets my SMC R apart from the rest of the competition since it is shorter than stock and has a dual outlet that makes it look different than other aftermarket exhaust. The exhaust note is deep and bassy. Loudness is subjective but for me, it is not too obnoxious and just the perfect combination I was looking for.
Not the cheapest exhaust out there, but the quality is second to none and well worth it in my opinion. With the air intake, full exhaust and power commander the bike has noticeably woken up
All 701 owners should ditch the stock exhaust, it’s heavy, restrictive, and hot! The Tecmo exhaust fit perfect, looks great, dropped a ton of weight and is not too loud! No more heat issues on my soft luggage. Well worth it!
