The Garmin Tread 2 is a rugged 6-inch powersport navigator designed for off-road enthusiasts who demand reliability and advanced navigation features. Its high-resolution, ultrabright, glove-friendly touchscreen is built to withstand extreme temperatures and weather conditions, boasting an IP67 dust and water resistance rating.
What is best for me, the Garmin XT2 or Tread – Base Edition? Garmin says “If you have a street tire, go for the XT2. If you have knobbies, go for the Tread or Tread 2”. In our experience, if you are not using Garmin’s trip planning features and use 3rd party software to customize your own maps, either unit is a great, but in a nutshell, the XT2 is geared towards street ride planning, while the Tread and Tread 2 are pre-packed with off road trails to discover.
Parkers' Choice: Our favorite mount is the Trail Tech Center Mount due to its low profile mounting capability.
Comprehensive Mapping and Navigation
Equipped with turn-by-turn navigation for unpaved roads and trails, the Tread 2 utilizes OpenStreetMap and U.S. Forest Service Motor Vehicle Use Maps to guide you through off-road adventures. It also includes high-definition digital elevation maps and satellite imagery, providing detailed views of your surroundings. For snowmobile enthusiasts, the device offers trail content and access to snowmobile-accessible locations throughout the U.S. and Canada.
Enhanced Connectivity and Features
By pairing the Tread 2 with the Tread app on your smartphone, you can connect to cellular data, share routes, and sync waypoints. This integration also enables smart notifications, including texts and live weather updates. Additionally, the device supports Group Ride Radio for location sharing and voice communication, ensuring you stay connected with your group even outside cellular coverage.
Built for the Extreme
Designed to endure the toughest conditions, the Tread 2 features a MIL-STD-810 drop rating, ensuring durability against drops and vibrations. Its robust construction makes it a reliable companion for any off-road adventure.
